Terms and Conditions

Don’t worry there are very few of them and they are mainly common sense.

Health & Safety

The photography courses generally take place in the little village of Smeeton Westerby in rural Leicestershire. It’s a fairly quite with very little traffic but you will need to cross roads at times during the practical photography exercises so you do need to take care. The course organizers cannot be held responsible for your safety while on the public highway. Glen Tillyard or Digital Photography Course can take no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to equipment, vehicles or belongings while on the course or travelling to or from the course. Please make us aware of any allergies or special dietary requirements. If you allergic to insect bites or stings please take extra care and bring any required medication.

Privacy

Smeeton Westerby is a very picturesque villages and we get a fair few hikers and photographers strolling around. We ask that you be sensitive to peoples privacy while you are taking photographs. Most people are very friendly, but as a matter of courtesy, it’s a good idea to ask permission before photographing someone or taking snaps of the flowers etc in their garden. I will inform you on the day of good places to take pictures.

Food
Coffee, tea and biscuits are provided on arrival and in the afternoon. Please bring a packed lunch as there are no shops in the village and you will not have time to go shopping.

Cancellations – If you cancel
These courses do tend to sell out quite quickly and are usually full. If you cancel up to two weeks before the course we can usually resell your place and you can book on another course date. If you notify us in good time you can choose to transfer to another date with available spaces for no charge. If you cancel within one week of the course date then we may not be able to re-sell your space and as such no refund is available as DPC will have lost your course fee. Any refunds are at our discretion and are subject to a £25 admin fee.

Failure to turn up for a course on the day.
This means we will have lost your booking as it would be too late to re-allocate your space and as such no refund is available and you will have lost your course fee.

In extenuating circumstances, and at our discretion, you may be able to transfer to another course with available spaces at a later date.  If you fail to turn up for you course or cancel within one week, you can attend the same course on another date for the refresher price of £100. In extenuating circumstances, we can waive this fee at our discretion.

What if we cancel?
To date, we have never had to cancel a group course. In the unlikely event we need to cancel a course you will be offered a full refund or the chance to attend another course. If it should happen we promise to give you as much notice as possible and we will always aim to provide you with an alternative course where possible or a full or partial refund at our discretion. Refunds are limited to the cost of the course and no additional payments will be made for travel or other expenses.

Advanced Courses
The Professional, Intensive and Advanced Courses must be completed within three months to maintain momentum. No refunds are allowed so once you commit, that’s it.

Gift Vouchers
Gift Vouchers are valid for six months and we could stretch this to longer at our discretion. No refunds are allowed. We will aim to keep the purchaser or the recipient informed about upcoming courses but we do recommend you also keep an eye on the website. Please remember to inform us about any change in your contact details. We will not contact the recipient unless asked to do so as we don’t want to spoil the surprise.

The weather
We have never had to cancel a course yet due to the weather. In the unlikely event that it does rain continually we have a contingency plan to ensure you still gain a great deal from the day. Glen Tillyard or Digital Photography Course can take no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to equipment, vehicles or belongings while on the course or travelling to or from the course.
